Privacy notice

Draft, version 2026-10-v3. Not yet reviewed by a lawyer.

What we collect

Your chat account id, your name as shown in the app, your phone number when WhatsApp shares it, the messages you send us, and the reminders, lists and bills you create.

Why

Only to do the tasks you ask for: remind you, keep your lists, track your bills and answer you in your language.

How long

Voice notes and photos are deleted after 30 days. Everything else stays until you delete it.

Who sees it

We never sell your data. To answer you we send messages to AI and speech-to-text providers, which process them for us and don't keep them for their own use.

When you ask for shopping suggestions, we send what you're looking for, never your name or number, to a web search provider. Some store links carry our affiliate id, so we may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. The message with the links says so.

When you ask for official statistics, such as inflation or unemployment figures, we look them up on the Ministry of Statistics' public data server. It gets only what we're looking up, never your name, number or message.

Accounts you link

If you link Swiggy, Zepto or Zerodha Kite to order food or groceries, book tables or see share prices, you sign in on their own page; we never see your password or OTP. We keep the access they give us, and use it only when you ask for something. We send them what you asked for (the dish, items, restaurant or share), and they show us your saved addresses, cart and order status to complete it. Nothing is ordered or booked until you tap the button under a summary of the items and total. Type disconnect swiggy (or zepto, or kite) to unlink, and delete my data also unlinks everything. We can't buy or sell shares for you.

Other things Jhatpat does

When you ask me to check a message for a scam, any links in it are looked up on Google's Web Risk service. Google gets only the links, never your name, number or the rest of the message.

When you send a prescription to set medicine reminders, or type your medicines, the AI model (Cloudflare Workers AI, or Azure OpenAI when Workers AI is unavailable) reads the medicine names, doses, times of day and how many days to take them. Only those details, and any tablet count you give for a refill reminder, are kept in your own Jhatpat storage until you stop a medicine or delete your data; the photo is deleted after 30 days. Nothing is sent to a doctor, pharmacy or anyone else.

When you ask me to explain a letter, notice, policy, report or prescription, the photo, PDF or text goes to the AI model that reads it (Cloudflare Workers AI, or Azure OpenAI when Workers AI is unavailable), which processes it for us and doesn't keep it for its own use. The file is kept in our storage for 30 days and then deleted. If you tap a reminder button, only that reminder (what and when) is saved, with your other reminders; the last few reminder offers are kept until you delete your data.

When you ask me to translate a message or write one in another language, its text goes to Sarvam AI, an Indian company built for Indian languages, or to our AI model provider (Cloudflare Workers AI, with Microsoft Azure OpenAI as a fallback) for foreign languages or when Sarvam is unavailable. Voice notes of messages I write for you are made by Sarvam too. They get the text only, never your name or number. I keep your last 20 drafts, and the names, numbers and languages of people you share a contact card for, so I can link straight to their chat next time; these stay until you delete your data. Voice notes I make are deleted after 30 days.

Household ledger. The names, pay, rates, leaves, advances and UPI ids you give for your household help and suppliers are kept in your family's shared Jhatpat book, which every member of your Jhatpat family can see and change. They stay until you remove someone or your family's data is deleted. Nothing is sent to the helpers or anyone else; a UPI pay link only opens your own UPI app with the amount filled in.

When you send a photo or PDF of a document such as a PUC, insurance policy, driving licence or passport to keep track of its expiry, the AI model reads its type, number, holder, issuer and dates. Only those details are kept, in your own Jhatpat storage, until you remove the document or delete your data; the photo itself is deleted after 30 days. Passport, licence and deposit numbers are kept as their last 4 characters only, and Aadhaar numbers are never kept: a photo of an Aadhaar or PAN card is deleted straight away. Nothing is sent to the transport department, Passport Seva, your insurer or your bank; the renewal links in reminders just open their official websites.

When you ask what to cook, what you typed, or the photo of your fridge or kitchen, is read by the AI model that answers you, to list the ingredients and suggest dishes and recipes. Your food preference (veg, eggs, non-veg or Jain), the cuisine you mention and your last suggestions are kept with your own data until you change them or delete your data. Missing items you choose to add go on your family's shared shopping list. If you order them on Swiggy Instamart, Swiggy gets the items as described under "Accounts you link", and nothing is ordered until you tap Place order. A week's meal plan is kept the same way until you ask for a new one; its Hindi copy is only sent to you, to forward if you choose.

When you save your monthly essentials, the AI model reads the items, brands and sizes you send. The list and the day you chose are kept in your own Jhatpat storage until you delete your data. A top-up you choose goes on your family's shared shopping list, or to Swiggy Instamart as described under "Accounts you link", and nothing is ordered until you tap Place order.

Parent check-in: when a family member asks Jhatpat to check on you every day, nothing starts until you agree. Your answers (medicine taken, later, not well, or no answer, with the time) stay in your own Jhatpat data for 30 days. The family members who set it up see only those answers, for the last 7 days, and get a message when you say you're not well or don't answer by the time they chose, with your WhatsApp number so they can call you. Nothing else you tell Jhatpat is shared with them, and nobody outside your Jhatpat family sees any of it. Either of you can stop it any time by sending "stop check-in"; stopping deletes the day-by-day answers.

Wishes and occasions: the names, relations, dates and any contact numbers you save stay in your own Jhatpat data until you remove them or delete your data. To write a wish, the name, relation, occasion and language go to the AI model. The wish links open WhatsApp on your phone with the wish typed in; Jhatpat never sends anything to the people you save.

School helper: photos of date sheets and homework, and homework questions you type, go to the AI model to be read. The exam dates and subjects become your own reminders, and your children's names (as you give them) are kept in your Jhatpat data to file them; nothing goes to the school. Homework answers are worked out for you to teach from; sums are checked by Jhatpat's own code.

Spend tracker: the bank, card and UPI messages you forward, spends you type and statements you send are read to note each payment's amount, date and who was paid. Most are read by Jhatpat's own code; an unusual message, a statement it can't follow, or a question it can't place goes to the AI model, and so do the names of shops it doesn't recognise (never amounts or account numbers). What's noted stays in your own Jhatpat data until you remove it or delete your data. Jhatpat never connects to your bank and can't move money. The monthly money summary adds the bills you track and renewals from your saved documents, worked out by Jhatpat's own code.

When you split a cost, the names and amounts you send are read by the same AI model that reads your other messages, to work out who paid what; the sums are done by Jhatpat's own code. Your splits, and the UPI ids you give for yourself or your friends, stay in your own Jhatpat data until you delete the split or your data. Jhatpat never messages the people in a split: you send them the message yourself. Payment links open a page on Jhatpat's own site that hands the payment to the payer's UPI app; Jhatpat never sees or moves money.

Market watch: for share price alerts, Jhatpat keeps the share and level you asked for and checks the price through your own Zerodha Kite sign-in every 15 minutes while the market is open; it can only read prices, never trade. SIP reminders keep the fund, amount and day you gave. The gold rate is fetched from goldapi.io without anything about you.

Tax calendar: the income, deduction and TDS figures you type or send on a Form 16, 26AS, AIS or salary slip are kept in your Jhatpat data so the comparison and advance-tax amounts can use them, until you delete your data. Photos of these forms, and messages whose numbers Jhatpat's own code can't read, go to the AI model to be read; the model is never asked for PAN, Aadhaar or account numbers, and they're never kept. The tax itself is worked out by Jhatpat's own code. Nothing is filed or sent to the Income Tax Department.

When you forward a flight, train, bus or hotel booking, or send a ticket, its text or picture goes to the AI model (Cloudflare Workers AI, or Azure OpenAI when it stands in) to read the journey. What it reads (route, times, PNR or booking number, travellers' names, seats, hotel) is kept only in your own Jhatpat storage to build your trip plan, set web check-in reminders and fill your morning brief. It is deleted 90 days after the trip ends, when you delete the trip, or with "delete my data". Nothing is sent to airlines, IRCTC or hotels; check-in links open the airline's own website. For a sightseeing plan, the city, the number of days and what you said you like go to the AI model; the last few plans are kept so you can add one to a trip.

Rides: when you book an auto or cab, your pickup and drop locations go through the ONDC network to the ride apps that offer rides (such as Namma Yatri), and the one you book also gets your phone number so the driver can call you. You pay the driver directly; Jhatpat never handles the fare. The trip, its options and the driver's details are kept with your own data, and which person a booking belongs to is kept for two days so the ride apps' updates reach you. Links to Uber open Uber with your pickup and drop filled in. For sending a parcel, Jhatpat only links to Porter and Rapido; nothing about the parcel is sent to them.

Save and find. Notes you ask me to keep (forwarded messages, typed notes, contact cards and visiting card photos) are stored with your other data and kept until you delete them or delete your data. To search them by meaning, the text of each note and of each search is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI, which turns it into a list of numbers (an embedding) and doesn't keep it. Visiting card photos are read by the same model that reads bill photos. Nothing else leaves Jhatpat. I refuse to save OTPs, PINs, CVVs and card numbers.

Link and video summary: links you send are opened by Jhatpat's server (the site sees a visit from Cloudflare, not from you), and the page's or video's text goes to the AI model to be summed up. Voice notes are made from the summary by Sarvam AI. The last 10 summaries are kept so the voice button works, and voice files are deleted after 30 days.

Journal and habits: your entries (typed, or voice notes as heard), moods and habit logs stay in your own Jhatpat data and are never shown to your family. Jhatpat's own code saves them and reads them back to you; the words of your entries go to the AI model only when you ask for a recap, or after each entry if you turn on reflections. The nightly question goes out only after you ask for it, and pauses by itself if you stop answering. You can delete any day, or the whole journal, by asking; deleting your data deletes it all.

Kisan pack: the crop and place you ask about go to data.gov.in (Agmarknet) for mandi prices. For farm weather, your farm's location, rounded to about a kilometre, goes to Open-Meteo. Crop questions and photos of crops are read by the AI model. Your mandi, the crops you ask about and your farm's location are kept with your own data until you delete it. [🔊 Sunao] voice notes are made from the answer by Sarvam AI, and the last 10 answers are kept so the button works.

Sarkari helper: your question goes to the AI model together with Jhatpat's own hand-checked guide for that task, so it answers from the guide alone; links and fees in the answer come only from the guide. If you name your state, it's kept in your Jhatpat data to show your state's portal next time. The answers you give to find schemes (age, state, work, a rough income band) are used for that answer and not kept. Jhatpat never asks for your Aadhaar, PAN or OTP, and never applies on your behalf.

Panchang and festivals: tithis, vrat days and festival dates are worked out by Jhatpat's own code, for New Delhi or for the location you shared; nothing is sent anywhere. If you turn on Ekadashi reminders, that choice is kept until you turn it off or delete your data.

When you note a service (a car, bike, AC, water purifier or a job like pest control), the AI model reads what was serviced, when, the kilometres, the cost and who did it. Those details are kept in your own Jhatpat storage until you delete your data; nothing is sent to a service centre or anyone else.

Shortlists: when you ask for a plumber, tutor, trainer, party vendor or doctor, the service and the area you name go to a web search (Cloudflare's, through its AI Gateway), and the results go to the AI model to pick the best few. The last area you asked about is kept so the next ask can use it. Nothing is booked, and no provider is told about you; the links open their own pages.

Party checklist: when you plan a party, the occasion, the name you give, the number of guests and the date are kept in your Jhatpat data, with the last few parties, so the buttons can add the shopping to your family's list and set your reminders. The checklist is made by Jhatpat's own code; nothing is sent to any vendor.

What's pending: the list is put together from what you already keep in Jhatpat each time you ask. Nothing extra is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere.
